چکیده
Humans evolved by losing the capacity to synthesize glycan Galα1-3Galβ1-(3)4GlcNAc-R (α-Gal), which resulted in develop a protective response mediated anti-α-Gal IgM/IgG antibodies against pathogens containing this modification on membrane proteins. As an evolutionary trade-off, humans can alpha-Gal syndrome (AGS), recently diagnosed disease mainly associated with allergic reactions mammalian meat consumption. The etiology of AGS is exposure tick bites and IgE antibody α-Gal-containing glycoproteins glycolipids. objective study was characterize association immune-mediated peripheral neuropathy, Guillain-Barré (GBS), compare it different factors known modulate α-Gal such as development bites. results showed significant decrease GBS patients when compared healthy individuals. In contrast, levels did not change affected patients, but expected, significantly increased individuals exposed tick-associated allergies. These suggest that immune pathways production are independent. Further studies should consider susceptibility patients.

Anti-GT1a IgG in Guillain-Barré syndrome.
OBJECTIVE To investigate the presence of serum anti-GT1a IgG in Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and its relation to clinical manifestations. BACKGROUND Several patients with GBS and bulbar palsy have been reported to have serum anti-GT1a IgG. Most, however, also have anti-GQ1b IgG. A previous study failed to detect GT1a in human cranial nerves, but GQ1b was abundant in human ocular motor nerves...
متن کاملGuillain-Barré syndrome: clinical profile and management
INTRODUCTION Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a fulminant polyradiculoneuropathy that is acute, frequently severe and autoimmune in nature. Etiology of GBS is incompletely understood, prognosis is usually good with early detection and prompt treatment. This retrospective study was done to evaluate clinical profile, epidemiological, laboratory, and electrodiagnostic features of patients with GBS...
متن کاملCharacteristics of Guillain-Barré syndrome: brief report
Background: Guillain-Barré syndrome is an autoimmune inflammatory disease, which manifests itself as an acute motor weakness of the organs, diagnosed as affecting the motor spinal nerve roots generally and causing muscle and motor weakness, the cause of this disease is the presence of active antibodies against the myelin sheath around the spinal nerve roots. Guillain-Barré syndrome is the most ...
متن کاملAnti-GM1 antibodies in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Anti-GM1 antibodies were measured in 22 patients with the Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and compared with anti-GM1 antibody activity in patients with other neurological or immunological diseases and in normal subjects. Four out of 22 patients with GBS had raised IgM, IgG, or IgA anti-GM1 antibody activities. All four patients were tetraparetic with only minimal or no sensory deficit. Three of t...
متن کاملLack of association of Guillain-Barré syndrome with vaccinations.
BACKGROUND Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute polyradiculoneuropathy, thought to be an autoimmune process. Although cases of GBS have been reported following a wide range of vaccines, a clear association has only been established with the 1976 H1N1 inactivated influenza vaccine. METHODS We identified hospitalized GBS cases from Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC) from 1995 thr...
